Back to Public Acts of Worship and much more

Updated: Dec 12, 2020

Dear All Saints and St Marys

It is very exciting to know that we are able to worship together in church this coming Sunday. Covid-19 regulations are still in place and we will only be allowed to sit in our bubbles. Please remember to bring a mask if you can wear one, and to sanitise you hands and use the track and trace as you arrive. Yet...despite all of this- and being in Tier 3 - we will be able to be with each other and I am very much looking forward to it. The choirs and musicians are also still able to accompany us. (HORRAY!) ..but no congregational sing just yet (We have to wait a bit closer to Christmas and be outside for that!) So do come along and sing in the All Saints Choir in the morning, Elisa rehearses at 10am. If you are interested in joining the St Marys Choir then let me know and I can give you details – they rehearse on a Friday evening.

Our Services are as follows for Sunday

  • 10.30am at All Saints Holy Communion – Diane Simms (Lead) Revd Lizzie (Preside and Preach)

  • 6.30pm at St. Mary’s Advent Evensong – Mark Simms (Lead) Revd Janey (Preach)

  • 9.30am – 10:30am – All Saints Church Open for Private Prayer

  • 10am - 11.30am – St Marys Church open for Private Prayer

  • Coffee and Chat on Zoom at 11.45am

Do come along to the quiz night if you can tomorrow – all in the aid of good causes – and also feel free to join the advent group on line on Wednesday evenings.

The following week (Advent III) is Revd Janey’s ordination service in the morning at All Saints, which will have a slightly tighter restriction on numbers as its a “life event”, but it will also be live streamed for everyone as well. In the evening service there will be a celebration at St Marys where hopefully many of us will be able to gather and worship together.

Brilliant news is that the Scaffolding is DOWN! at St Marys so we can enter through the main west doors! And so come and see and listen the restored organ if you can over the next few weeks. It has been an amazing project to complete in this year and thank you to everyone who has made that happen so we can now enjoy it to its full.

ALSO – GENERATIONS can RETURN this Sunday – so I am very very excited about seeing them – 7.15pm at All Saints – We will be outside mainly so WRAP UP WARM....and remember your masks so you can use the loos.

I’ve been thinking a bit about that very first sentence that we have in Marks Gospel – “The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ” – They are so firmly definite and concrete words to a community that found itself persecuted and yet – still they courageously had the guts to write and say and pray – This is the good news. May we all hold firmly to that in this coming weeks (....you will be pleased to know I expand on this when preaching in the morning!)

See you all this weekend and beyond. Blessings and prayers. May God guard and Guide you.

Lizzie
