Wow! The church is so much brighter! The lighting is now operational. Thanks too all those who have overseen this work over the past couple of weeks - with very minimal disruption (if any) to the work and life of the church. Thanks Allied Electrical!

23 member of AS along with Mrs Jo and Revd Michael Selman took time out today to be together at St. Michaels Parish Rooms Stoke Gifford for a New Year Away Day.
An opportunity to reflect on why we 'are' and 'do' church, give thanks for what is going well,'dream ' about the future and look to God to find His Will and the strength to achieve it.
Lovely venue, good company and lots of positive enthusiasm.
'I woke up this morning and thought,'What I I going to this for?.....and really enjoyed it and found it helpful' was one comment.
Thanks to Ruth for persevering in fulflling her vision to make this day happen.....Where shall we go next?

Another very good community Yew Tree Carols event. Was good to see so many people there - a majority of whom were able to stay for warm mince pies and mulled wine afterwards (with squash for the children of course / and tea and coffee for the drivers!). Many people felt they could have stayed there singing lots more carols! And we had roasted chestnuts - for the first time.
The church is now ready for Midnight Communion.

The Christmas Services have been going ahead. The Carols By Candlelight went well and it was lovely to have so many children singing Away in a Manger. Some of the highlights have to be seeing one boy signing the first verse - the choir singing their well prepared pieces - and just the chance for all to be together as we thought about the coming of Jesus and reflected on his birth.

A wonderful Remembrance Sunday service this morning. An ACt of Remembrance and an Act of Worship. Our prayers are with all those service men and women now and in the past - their families and their friends. May God be with you always. We will remember them.

Joseph-Sing-A-Long: What a fun evening was had by all that was there. There were quite a few of us who hadn't seen the version shown before as well - and a number of children who were watching it for the first time. We particularly enjoyed the moment that made Sam laugh out loud! Thanks to the team who made this evening happen.

I attened the funeral of Meg Grimes on Thursday 2nd June, the church was packed to the extent of standing room only. This shows what a truly lovely lady Meg was, always ready to lend a helping hand, in the church and at the Julian Trust Night Shelter. So many wanted to pay their respects. Meg will be greatly missed by many. God Bless you Meg.

And another great service this morning. The Sunday School were thinking about wind - how you can't see it but can feel it and know it is there - and that you can't see God but you can feel him and know he is there. The secondary school children went out to look at journeying - and the congregation in the main body of the church also considered journeying. Both explored Abrahams and Nicodemus. With Abraham, spiritual journey included travelling and moving on - whereas for Nicodemus he grew on his spiritual journey in the same place he started.

During the service led by Mark Simms this evening it occured to me that I hadn't uploaded the much requested sermon which he preached in August 2010! Its now here - on the left hand side.
During this morning's servie we had the first of the Bible Study for the Teens. They went off to do their study for part of the service. I'll see if I can get one of them to add something to this blog about their experience.

Tonight was the first meeting of the community youth group in the hall. Set up by members of the community - they hope to offer a place where young people can hang around together in a place that is warm and friendly. Various activites / things are on offer. Watch to see how it develops.
