HEALING AND WHOLENESS

On hearing the word 'healing' or 'healing ministry', we probably first think of physical healing. But there are many other human situations, equally important, which also need healing. These include emotional, spiritual and mental problems, -

Experiences such as -

  • Broken relationships
  • Family upsests
  • Painful memories of the past
  • Being rejected
  • Jealousy
  • Anger and resentment
  • Bereavement grief
  • Despair

We don't usually go to our G.P. with these inner pains, yet they can affect our well being as deeply as a physical wound.

There is a real sense in which we all need healing, for all are flawed and broken.

WHOLENESS is God's will for us, but wholeness isn't instant, - but a process, sometimes a long journey, which can only be taken one step at a time, and in God's strength.

Jesus spent much of his time and energies in healing people. He understood their inmost needs and deepest fears, and felt compassion for each one.

In his own extreme suffering, Jesus prayed, forgave, continued to love, - and trusted God the Father for the out come.

Part of the Church's work of 'healing' is a Healing Prayer ministry.

At 'All Saints', we have a small 'Healing Prayer' team. Special services are held on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 6.30pm.

The team's ministry is to pray on behalf of those who come and request it, - during the Church Service (in the privacy of the Lady Chapel); - seeking to be a 'channel' for God's healing power and love. Life's inner pains often need to be worked - through gradually, - but that first step of acknowledging the problems.
